Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.
My speedometer does not work. I want to remove the cable from the back of the speedo, to start testing which of the two cable sections is broken and replace it. I have very small hands, but can't get close to the speedo in the '81. Anyone have suggestions for the EASIEST way I can get to it, before I just start indiscriminately removing parts?
Thanks!

Vette(s): 1979 L-82, 3 spd auto, car was originally Lt. Beige currently painted Sportsman Red, Doeskin leather interior, 103,000 miles......
For my 79, I loosened the steering column bolts, this dropped the column down so I could remove the instrument cluster from the dash. It's not necessary to remove the bolts all the way. Carefully pull the instrument panel out and you'll be looking at the speedo and tach cables.

Good Luck.
