I was replacing a defective power window switch. I had to loosen the console to get at the switch. On doing so, I apparently broke off the AT shifter needle. I can’t figure out how to put in the replacement.
Can you post a pic of the shifter and replacement needle?

If memory serves, you should be able to replace the indicator from the side. Just remove the side panel/skirt. There is a metal bracket with a pin on it that the slot on the needle fits into. Remove the bracket(1 bolt?) and slide the old indicator off, and the new one on, then replace the bracket. Make sure to get the pin on the bracket aligned with the slot on the indicator.

Which side are you coming in from? The picture shows from the driver side.
Yes...driver side. btw, the diagram I posted is for '77-'81 shifters.
