Ok, I'm new here so please excuse my ignorance.
I'm finding it nearly impossible to find information regarding seat belts on '76 Stingray.
The belts in my car are in great condition however they stick and are difficult to pull out to put on and won't retract very well either.
I was wondering if there is somewhere / someone that can rebuild these things to be like new mechanically speaking?
Thanks in advance!

Yes there is a company that restores seatbelts, it's called snakeoyl or something like that, they have a website. If you are happy with the looks of the belts, I took mine out and sprayed the rollers with penetrating oil and worked them a bit. Now they work like new. Make sure the rug isn't torn up and jamming them, either. Joe

this is another topic on seat belts, Juliet mentions another companty that is faster, better and cheaper.

If you haven't already done so check out this thread for some other responses similar to what you're asking about: Lap and Shoulder belts for 77
Thank you very much for the info!!
I've already inspected the retractor when I replaced the carpet it looks fine. However now that I read that post I'll double check them for play.

I have an '82 that the belts were losing tension in. Ssnake-oyl is definately the place to deal with. I looked high & low. They are re-webbing mine @ 60.00 each. Compared to replacements this is a great price!

Last August at Carlisle, I set out to replace my lap & shoulder belts. I was hoping to refurbish my existing ones but determined they were not original & really not worth saving. I found the folks at Snake Oyl to be very helpful -- BUT very pricey. Maybe I looked like a sucker, but they were nearly double what I wound up paying for a NOS set. There were at least 4 different vendors at Carlisle selling belts. There was a big difference in quality among them. To me it was important to see them before I shelled out a few hundred bucks. If you can wait til August then, it may be worth it. ~ Joe

Well, I lucked out BIG time. I happen to come across the ONLY NOS set of belts on ebay...and they were the right color.
