I installed my replacement lap belts from Andover this evening. They went in without a hitch (no pun intended ). So now I'm legal and have some margin of safety while driving. The only bad part of the experience was fighting the urge to rip out the entire interior (good thing I don't have anything ordered yet, or else I probably would have!)

Welcome to the fun of owning a 30+ year old Vette John.  You'll eventually get it to the point where you're happy with it.  I can't drive mine at the moment due to a cracked block so imagine the withdrawals I'm going through.

Hey John, any photos of the process??  I have to do the same thing and I'm wanting to add a shoulder harness, which I'm not too sure of how to do.  Are yours just the lap belts, or do you have the shoulder harness?

Bryan:

No pics - I only did the lap belts. My car didn't have the shoulder belt option, so my seats don't have the slit at the top of the seat to allow the belt to pass through. Installation was very easy. Take out the seats, take off the door sill plates, pull back the carpet, install the belts. Poke them through the holes already in the carpet, reinstall the door sill plates and seats, and your done.

I had to replace my old belts in my 73. I went with F-body belts I got off Ebay. http://hometown.aol.com/bmclau5079/page3.html
