Vette(s): 1974 Roadster being restored now!
Hey everyone,

My seats are shot |sad|, and so now I get to make the fun choice of having these seats re-done, or opting for a newer style seats. What options do I have? My car is a 74, and those seats do absolutely NOTHING as far as support goes. They're like dining chairs! My previous car was an MR2, and I loved that cockpit feeling, and wouldn't mind seats that hug your body. What's my best bet without making it look too outrageous?

Thanks

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
Imran,

If you want to stay in the corvette seats styling, the seats on my 79 are really comfortable. You sit down in them, as they kinda go up around you. Someone said something about Fiero seats. My daughter used to have one, and there again, they were small, and you sat in them, not on them. They also had speakers in the headrests. Newer model corvette seats are kinda nice too.

The 79 corvette seats might bolt up fine, don't know about fiero seats. Best bet, try before you buy... |cheers| |cheers|

Look at mine on the corvette of the week posting for 6/17/02.

How much did you pick them up for? The C5 seats are amazing!

Let us know how hard it was to install them.

I have a set of C4 seats which you can have for $100 plus shipping. They are not sport seats and the left one is electric. Covers are shot but the pads could be used.

I have a 79 and have been thinking about switching out the original seats for aftermarket seats. I don't care much for the the plastic shell on the back of the 79 seats, even though the seats are pretty confortable for as small as they are. I have been told by Corbeau that their A4 seats will fit in a C3. I'm toying with the idea of buying a pair and then recovering them in two tone leather to match my interior. I'm just afraid that if they sit a inch o so higher then I won't be able to fit in my car....since I'm 6'3''. When the C4 seats are installed in a C3 do they sit any higher? I imagine C5 seats are out of the question unless you are under 5 feet tall. Any help? |headscratch|

I put a pair of seats from a '84 that i got with good electrics in mine. I tried to use the electric bases that came with them, but then they were too tall, & with the tops on, I would just hit my head. I used the manual rails that were on the original seats, & they are just fine. I had to do a little drilling on the 84 seat base to mount them on the rails, but works & looks great!
