Vette(s): 1969 Corvette Stingray Convertible. Just bought it from my uncle who owned it since 1971. Fathom green, green interior. 350/300, T400.
I have a '69 convert. I just purchased new seat covers from Corvette Central and noticed the color seems off. My seats are greenish gray, the new covers are dark green/blue. The new covers match the door panels though. I looked in another catalog with color samples and it appears that I may have '70 seat upholstry in my car, they seem to match the '70 green color swatch almost perfectly. I had previously ordered '69 door handles and they match the door panels. My uncle was the original owner of this car and the upholstry has never been off. Is it possible that mine may have been a late '69 and had '70 upholstry on the seats? My trim code is 427. The vin is 194679S726682.
Thanks,
Matt

So July is very late in production, right? The more I compare the colors, the more it looks like '70 upholstry.

when the 69 corvette changed from late to early is a mysterious date.. I tried to get some brainpower here to help figure this out.. but to no avail..

www.rowleycorvette.com/stats69.html

shows that corvettes were made all the way into december of 1969 and still called 1969.

is july late or early ? good question. if anyone knows please "splain" this to us.

my # is 33512 it is definitely late and definitely has some 70 parts.. (example: the date code on my diff shows 10/13/69 but it has a 1970 casting code, example: my muncie M21 has all the correct dates and vin for my 1969, but it has a drain plug that didnt appear until 1970 on m21, only on m22 in 69)

so this would lend some possible credence to what your saying..

here is the problem though..

my last 69 vette was green on green

had production number in the 30,000 + range and used 69 colors

this would contradict your theory, i was second owner of that one and the first owner did nothing to it (and I mean nothing, it was falling apart when I bought it) so i believe the panels and seats were original
