ok got the speedo working fine and now the next item...opening the drivers door you have the switch in the door attach area and it works fine for the warning for the keys in ignition with the door open, but no connection to turning on the dome light or floor lights. Am I correct it should turn on the dome light and fllor lights or is this maybe an option I do not have on my car.  also second question... the engine compartment light should it turn on when the hood is openied and the lights on or will it come on with the light switch in the off position...right now it does not come on at all??? I have power to the itiial wire at the harness left side of hood but from there to the bulb  I am not getting a light on but when should this light be on.  I see a simular switch on the right rear side of the hood and thought this is the release to turn on the hood light but now read something it might be an ati theft switch??? have very little info on what options were on the car as cannot track any history of the car or previous owners 1978 that someone or many let go to pot.... tany info will be appreciated...

Whew.... wires wires everywhere and not a place to connect.... wires wires everywhere.... and Bubba was here I suspect....

Sorry for that. I see you have 2 other posts concerning wiring issues as well as this one. I am only going to comment on part of this one.

The wire and the switch on the passenger side cowl is for your security system.

This LINK will put you in touch with my buddy Joel (ADAMSAPPLE) and you can send him a PM requesting a wiring diagram to which he will supply you with a CD for one. This should help you weed through the mess that Bubba has left for you.

For sure others will reply to your threads and help as well. Another help would be if you can post a picture of the wires too. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Hope this helps some!

Your hood light, is a mercury switch in the lower part of the light housing, it comes on when you lift the hood, it prob has a bad contact in it...more than likely you will have to replace the light holder. Unless you want to pull it a part and get rid of the green breaking the contact.
The interior door light switch has two contacts in it at the back, one for the buzzer/security and one for the interior light, the little wire that goes to it has prob lost contact at the back of the switch, unthread it form the A piller and check your wires there.
