The old interior and carpets are out. Floors are in pretty good shape with light surface rust. Only found a few Bubba's so far. A block of wood holding the A/C controls in place and a rag in place of the screws to hold the console against the parking brake cover. The drain plugs were gone so I'm thinking some of the floor heat problems should cure up when these are closed. Just got back from Home Depot to get the insulation and no luck I'm just hoping its not a northern thing as not to many people insulate their pipes and waterheaters down here. The lowes web site shows they have it so thats tomorrow. The guy had carpeted the kick panels so now they are shot. You know its funny, I started out to just replace the carpeting and I think I now have an interior in Boxes with more on the way. There is something about these cars that makes ya nuts.

That's weird.  My '82 kick panels are carpeted.  I thought that from '80 to present had carpeted kick panels.  Interesting.

Looks really nice with carpet.   Don't have to see black or a paint color.

Enjoy your restore on the carpets.  Slow and steady makes everything go great.

Your right, I just looked in the box and the kick panel carpeting is included. The former owner had done such a poor job with the carpeting it looked like an afterthought. Just saved me $70.00

Thanks

Hey, just finished a complete interior on my '68.  The only real advice I have is to look at what you take out and use that as a guide to put in the new.  My carpet was completely gone when I got my car and without anything to look at I made a few minor mistakes.  Not to bad, just not the way it was meant to be.  Good luck!

I have some surface rust on the floors but what concerns me is I also have some on the passanger side behind the kick panel. I blame most of it on the wheather stripping which is shot. Is the someplace else I should be looking before I button this up?
