The drivers door rear veiw mirror is a little loose. I am guessing the door panel would have to come off to access the nuts that hold it.

So just how hard is it to get that panel off and what tools are needed.

Is there such thing as a manual for dummies?

Or what manual would you recommend that really explains the steps to working on ones car that a none car guy can understand?

Thanks again for your input. I wouldnt ask if I didnt have faith that some of you really know this stuff.

John, what you need to do is remove the screw that is just slightly above the chrome base. With that screw removed, you can now lift the mirror upward from it's mounting plate. You will then see the bracket that is attached to the fiberglass of the door. It has two phillips head screws. Just tighten those screws. There is a rubber gasket between the fiberglass and the mirror mounting bracket. You don't have to remove any interior panels or anything inside. There are a lot of different manuals that can assist you. One great one is the AIM book. It's used be the factory techs to assemble the car. Good luck to you, Larry

The outer door mirror(s) is attached from the outside, not the inside. Look at the lower edge of the mirror base, and you'll see a small, allen-head set screw. Take the set screw out, and the mirror will lift off. The mirror base is held to the door with two phillips head machine screws. They may be loose, or the set-screw for the mirror could be loose....either one will make it flop around on the door. Be careful tightening the set-screw in the mirror, tho, as the screw is easily snapped off if tightened way too tight.
If you have the AIM for your '73, 90% of it will also pertain to the '70, as far as stuff like this.

Thanks, thanks, thanks!

See now THATS something I can do.

I dont have the AIM for 73 but I did have the check book.
Now with 2 of these cars it looks like I need to learn, be it slowly, how to work on them myself to some degree.

(I will never try and remove the rivets from the backing plates!)

John if you remember i have all the manuals you will need for the 70, assembly, wiper trouble shooting, water leaks, NCRS judging, couple of different repair manuals, thinking somewhere around here there is a CD joel sent that had wiring on it, everything i have for the 1970 goes with your purchase, all banners, signs, memerbila, evrything.
