When I bought the '73, they seller gave me the original seat belt assemblies with the car.

He had replaced them with generic belts that do not retract.

Where can I get the originals rebuilt and tested?

....and does anyone offer shoulder harness belt kits?

Thanks guys!

I had mine rebuilt by Snake Oyl. They did a nice job but it is not cheap. Here is their web site www.ssnake-oyl.com .

Sorry to hear that Mark. Maybe it will be an easy fix and they won't charge you. I had them do mine last winter so not a lot of time on them yet. I did have to have the retractor under the seats replaced because they were pretty rusty. They still worked though.

Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.

I used SsnakeOil also.  Note that if you think you or a future purchaser would want originality, modern webbing for belts is much thinner and more flexible than the old stuff.  It is far from the original thing.  In that case, I would check with Vette used/repro parts houses like Dr. Rebuild, etc.  If originality is not an issue, Snake Oil is a good choice, but I must admit I like the feel of the stiffer belts better.  But, from what I've heard, that old webbing material is just not made any more...

Mark, you might want to take a look at the retractor yourself.  Mine did not retract as well as I wanted, so I took them apart and tightened up the retracting spring a couple of turns and reinstalled.  Did the job.  Just beware that it is not the easiest thing in the word to get the retractor back together without the spring "springing" all over the place.  You have to be a little creative and patient.  If I could remember how I did it, I'd put it here, but I don't!

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

Russ, when you put the right ones back in, what do you want for the ones in there now?  At the moment, I don't have any.

As soon as I get the originals rebuilt (this winter) you can have the other belts for free.

Call it a "Pay it forward" deal.
