I'm thinking of purchasing Romeo Engineering carpet as well. However, I do have some questions I hope you might be able to answer.

How long did it take for your order to arrive?
Was the carpet color exactly the same as original?
Was the carpet thickness the same as original?
Did the carpet come with the jute backing?
Are you happy with the molding, cut and fit?

Thanks!

If you are doing and NCRS type replacement, you will have to get a good upolstry person to redo the webbing to be correct.

Regardless of what manufacturer you go with there is also some trimming according to the guys at Tony's Corvette and he is one of the best.

He recommends ACC as the closest to the original but has never heard of Romeo either.

I received carpet set from Wilcox. It arrived about 1 week after ordering. Price was 149 + shipping of 19.83 Colour was right on, molding was great. I trimmed very little for it to fit. It looks great, makes the car look brand new inside (Seats were recovered last year). I am very happy with Wilcox, thanks for everyones advice.

I got my carpet and seat covers in today from Willcox Inc, I have bought a dozen or so items from them and have been pleased with all.

I opted for "leather like" covers for cost reasons more than anything, and the fact I don't sleep well in the doghouse.

Has anyone here laid a heat barrior down under the carpet? I have seen other posts raving about Kool Mat, but its pricy. There has to be something else out there that does not cut that deep into the beer fund.

Rick

I saw recently,I think in madvet, that they have tranny tunnel insulation for my '79,that supposedly solves a interior heat problem. But I have only had it since December,so havent noticed. Is under carpet insulation needed besides what already comes on quality carpet? Or do we need extra, and foil backed?

I have seen in other posts that you can buy heat panel in Home Depot far cheaper and cut it to fit. I went to look at it in the roof dept. at Home Depot and saw it. It lopoks good .So I think you need you need to look at the older posts on page 3 or 4 to see if you can find it. |cheers|

I purchased a complete carpet set from Romeo Engineering in January for my '76 and I believe the cost was $149. I purchased the sound proofing for both front and rear and the cost was around $60. Shipping was $40. Delivery was one week. If I had to do it over again I would have bought the sound proofing locally at Lowe's or Home Depot. It came in three rolls which covered more area than the original and I did had to trim to fit (with very little waste)which was no problem but I feel I could have beat Romeo's price. As for as fit and color, it's looks factory original! The carpeting came with the jute backing already attached. I did have to do a little trimming and cut holes for the seats mounts, seat belts, etc. but it was no problem. I did use contact cement for the sound proofing directly behind the seats and at the transmission tunnel. The original carpeting wasn't "glued" in, so I didn't use any either. I'm well pleased with the results. |thumb|
