Well, I gutted the interior of my car.  I was careful to mark all the electrical connections, except the half dozen that were not hooked up to anything.  I went to Lowes and bought some of that double layer foil insulation, finished putting that in yesterday.  I have new carpet, door panels, seat covers and foam, that will be next.  The dash was salvageable, but needs a good cleaning.  I am completely rebuilding the storage compartments.  With any luck I will have the inside back together by Monday.  I bought all of my interior parts from Ecklers.  They came marked with Corvette America logos.  The only thing that bothers me is that I their sales person did not make recomendations about needed parts.  Only after I received the parts did I relize all of the things I needed to complete the installation.  I am still waiting on order number two.  I need some help with the pictures, can anyone tell me how to post them?

Nice lookin' ride there... To me redoing the interior really made the difference...Streetshark...

I redid mine a couple months ago (door panels, console, gages, carpet, header molding etc). My dash was OK but age had taken it's toll. I used the spray dye (looked like flat paint to me) for my dash and it came out great. Make sure you clean it good and use the primer first. Got it from Corvette America. I put on multiple coats. After a week I put Armor-all on it and you would never know it was sprayed... I think some others here have used it too. Of course I had my dash out of the car. Don't know how difficult it would be with the dash in... I also have a roll of that insulation, and was wondering how that worked for you. I have been hesitant as my old backing was OK but the cabin heat issue is surfacing now...

I plan on dying my dash also.  I bought new header and pillar pieces though.  I have it all out right now.  The insulation was pretty easy.  I used 3-m super adhesive spray to hold it in place.  I cut it with regular scissors and a utility knife.  All I did was cut out a piece big enough and then fitted it into the floor pan.  Then I cut and trimmed it until I had a good fit.  Then I glued it into place.  I did one section at a time and before I knew it, I had covered the whole area.  Under the dash area and up against the firewall were the toughest parts to reach.  The hardest thing to do was to clean out all the old glue and crud from the original insulation.  Of course, my interior is all out of the car, you would have to do that again.

I just did mine during the winter and now I am enjoying it. This project took several months because like you I kept finding things I need or add to the to do list.

Your '68 looks sweet. It's amazing how a new interior canl make such a
difference. I did mine a few weeks ago (see 'stupid seatbelt question'),
the foil does help with header heat.... but be prepared for the mysterious
'heat through vent' syndome!

Did you also repalce the console and dash panels, as they look pretty new in the picture...?

Thanks for the compliments!

I replaced the upper and lower dash pads along with door panels. They were all cracked. The car has spent a major portion of its life here in the desert region of Washington. So it was pretty brittle. I also did the seat foam and seat covers. I painted the other panels and steering column to match. I used the 3M Super 77 to glue the insulation to the floor, the matting to the insulation and the carpet to the insulation.

Next winter will be a rebuild of the front suspension. The steering is still tight but the bushing are split. I just bought a blast cabinet to help with the parts clean up this winter. Oh the joys of owning a VETTE! Its to cold during the winter to do much else so why not play with the vette while its on the jack stands. It keeps me out of trouble.

To post pictures I just copy the path to my photo album at Photobucket.com

Lowbrowser I really like the color of your vette.
