....I bought a carpet heat shield underlay kit from Willcox I think and it didn't have instructions.  I went to the web and found this diagram.  My question is this, I can't for the life of me figure out how the "left wheel well" and "right wheel well pieces" go in.  These are the rear wheel well next to the storage compartment, correct?  I assume from fitting the other pieces the foil goes down but trying to orient these pieces in the car is driving me nuts.  Any one have any ideas?  (I am using these as templates and /or for additional insulation on top of Dynamat Extreme.

PS - I cannot believe how difficult the prep was to clean off the old carpet glue.  The factory worker who did my car must have been in a big hurry to get home because there wer big clumps everywhere! m

Are these pieces flat or molded?

I helped a friend install press molded carpeting in his 66 roadster. The portion over the wheel wells we finally gave up on and took it to a shop that does it. They used a heat gun to soften it and made it fit the shape a lot better. I am not sure how you're ever going to get flat carpeting installed without a lot of heat.

Thanks.  The carpet pieces are molded and I have a heat gun so hoping for the best with those, but these pieces with the cut outs etc. continue to baffle me.  In addition to those "dog leg" slots, there are also a square flaps cut out (cut on three sides)   One would think with such a unique shape the positioning would be obvious, but not to me!  I also suspect that the diagram has them oriented the way they would go in the car, as the other pieces are listed that way.

Looking at them, they may be labeled backwards.  I've never done this, but seems like the straight edges should go up under the lip.

Can you compare to the original pieces of carpet?

I figured it out by trial and error.  The square cuts were for the shoulder belt retractor covers and the curvy line followed the back of the wheel well.  Did the whole rear today with Dyanamat Extreme - not as easy as I thought it would be.  Tomorrow the front.  I'm going to have a full set of the jute backed foil pre-cut pieces left over - if anyone is interested I'll make them a deal!

Good to know.  Let us know how the Dynamat and extra insulation works.  I thought about the extra insulation but w/ side exhausts, not sure the Dynamat would be worth the cost.
