Vette(s): 1982 Collector Edition #3413

I have removed my passenger side shade with mirror from the vette.   Now here's my problem.   I need to remove just the mirror(it's cracked  ) from the vanity plastic plate that holds the mirror to the shade.

Questions:

How do I remove the mirror or can I from the vanity plastic plate?

Do I have to take off the whole vanity plastic plate with the mirror just to replace the mirror?

This will help my very much.   The assembly and other books are at no help.

Thanks.

I think the mirror holds the whole thing in. If you pop the mirror out, the rest comes with it. I bought the vanity used, then they started making them again, paid more for a used part!

When taking it apart, you may screw up the cardboard material in the visor, be careful.

I was afraid that their was something inside the shade that will make this diffacult.

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.

The mirror is most likely is glued to the plastic frame. Changing it may be a difficult task. The plastic frame may be brittle so be careful.

If you can change it that is a good thing.(said Martha Stewart).  Let us know how it turns out.  Good Luck.  DB

I just found my old mirror, after you take it out of the visor, you can work it out of the vinyl part. It seems like a rubber/vinyl piece.

Did you try to remove it yet?

I did remove the mirror/plastic plate.   The plate came out with little force.  Just don't use to mush force.  You will break the card board inside the shade.  Lucky I took my time as you guys said to.  Thanks.

I didn't find any glue anywhere.  I'll take some photos of the whole shade and will give step by step instructions when I find the time to install.   Will do this by the end of the month.  I'm busy with my work here and my yuck other work....

Cheers...

It's easy.  I'll get back with you on this.   I'm taking photos and let people know how to very soon.

But for a fast unplug.   Take out the cassette/glove compartment.   It's on the right side near more wires.  It's not with the collection of wires.  By it's self.  Also might be hard to get by hands.   If you need, take the dash off and side pillar plastic.
