My 1978 is light blue with a blue interior. The plastic trim around the inside of the rear window is severely faded. I was looking at other late 70's C3's this weekend at the Vettes at the Villages show in Jacksonville FL and it looks like the back trip was black or grey and didn't match the interior color? Can someone confirm this? I was going to redye the plastic but I want it to look correct.
Thanks
Dennis

BlueBarry(Babyblue 78) would prolly have the answer to this...he also has a light blue '78.
I wouldn't think the interior trim around the inside of the back glass would be black...it should be the same color as the trim around the windershield. Of course, your car, you can do any color ya want.

If you are talking about the panel around the bottom of the window (I guess you would call it the package tray) it is satin black. All other trim around the window and inside car (around T-top,etc. is interior color. This only applies to 78 up. Not sure about 82 collector edition. Hope this helps! Oh, by the way, when I got mine it was almost white from fading! So if you see gray, it started as black! Remember, you have to take ALL the upper trim off to get the shelf out to paint! Really not too bad.

Hey Mameluke,
My white '79 has dark blue trim. I did'nt like the look of that one piece around the bottom of the rear window (interior) being black.
I ordered dark blue interior dye from Corvette America and was happy with the result.
I think I first scrubbed it clean with Simple Green cleaner and then used adhesion promoter instead of primer.
It came out good.

Thanks Kevin, I need to buy some blue dye anyway so I was thinking the same thing. Does the color match the stock blue?
I used the Krylon Fusion plastic paint in satin black, The great thing about the Fusion paint is that you just wipe it down with paint thinner and spray! They say not to sand. I also used it on the plastic grille (which was badly faded)! Love the stuff for plastic! With the dark blue interior the black shelf looks fine. It even looks fine on my friends 80 with the Doeskin interior.

Like Barry said, that Krylon Fusion Paint for plastic works great. I re did the plastic trim pieces in a '03 VW I sold awhile back. I've seen the car and everything I painted is holding up well.
