Hello

I did the same thing on a 68 that I had. I wish I could give you some insight into these, but I can't.

After messing around with them for many hours, I broke one of the pieces and through the whole mess in a box.

I then ordered the completed assembly. |cussing|

Are you talking about replacing the carpet on the doors and trying to get it under the trim pieces? I'ts impossible! Buy a set of new trim pieces from Mid America or one of the other places. The replacements are drilled and counterbored to use small flathead screws. Break the old ones off little by little and then clean up where the "lugs" were with a razer knife on sharp chisel. The new ones should actually fit very well. Very snug.Put them on and carefully drill shallow pilot holes for the screws. When they are on, mask off the carpet and spray some paint. That's how I've done them in the past. You can get them in colors but I still like to add some paint, helps cover the screws. Mike
