I want to install rear speakers in my vette but it looks like the person i bought it from replaced the carpet kit and did not install rear speakers. Does anyone know where the rear 4x10's were located and will the new pioneer 4x10's i bought fit?

I'm not aware that rear speakers came on the car.

I have a speaker bar that goes all the way across the rear of the compartment. I think custom auto sound sells them. This is an aftermarket item.

I kinda assumed it did because the speakers he gave
me in the box of stuff looked really old with no grills, either way a aftermarket set-up is probably better anyway.

Your 68 only had speakers under the kick panel on both sides of the dash. The panel is the speaker grille you referred to. Those speakers are probably history, but replacements are sold by most of the large suppliers. If listening to quality sound is important to you, plan on replacing the radio and components. Do a search here as there have been some great systems installed by posters on this board.

Im not possitive but I thought 68s only had 1 speaker in the center of the upper dash pad.

Mine came with AM-FM, but not stereo, just 2 speakers in the kick panels, nothing in the dash. I'm pretty sure that was the extent of a "system".
