I followed the instructions found here to rebuild my clock, but the contact point is burned.  I don't think that light sanding will do it.  Looks like there's been a small spark at one point of time in there and the points are kind of melted/smashed.

Can I find new contact points for the clock ?

My suggestion is to convert the clock to quartz movement. The repro houses all carry a conversion kit or a complete quartz movement clock that looks identical to the factory unit. It's not difficult and works better than the origianl.

I knew about the quartz conversion, but I was hoping to get away with a < 10$ repair while keeping my original clock running for another 10 years.  I don't care much about my clock.  It thought it would be a 10 minutes fix for free (or 10$ for new points).

I'll put my 70$ somewhere else on the car before it goes on a quartz clock. (I even saw over 150$ repairing service of the original) What a rip off!

I guess I'll get my hands on a box full of new contact points and start a clock repairing business.

Thanks for the input!

I finally got a little adjustment knob for my clock and found out its not working properly   I set the clock at 3:15 and like 15 mins later it was 5:30   The hour hand falls to the bottom of the clock randomly.  Susposedly the clock was replace like a year ago, guess I'm due for a repair. cilrah38556.6716550926

Another possibility...

Bob Hensley in KY   skyy@qx.net

He will service/repair C3 clocks for $35 + $6 S/H, or has factory NOS movements with installation for $90.

I finally gave it a shot last week.

Opened the clock (little wheels flying all over the place; I pulled too hard on it without removing the 3 little bushings keeping the case in place).  Spent about 2 hours putting it back together based on pictures of the link above.

Sanded the contacts, sprayed the clock with brakes cleaner, dried it with a can of air (rince and repeat). Lubed it with some light machine oil.

Manually separated the contact and the sonofagun started moving.

It is not back in the car yet, but it sure is a good start.  I might have fixed it for 1.29$ (machine oil).  Hopefully, the timing is right; not too fast or too slow.  We'll see!

ONly one thing, the 3 little parts that needs to be bent to retain the face of the clock... have been bent too often and they broke. Nothing that duck tape couldn't fix (this is a non visible part of the clock, so it works for me!)
