Never had one done, but I've done a few myself. What happened to yours?

Jason,
I bought 'REBUILT' column on eBay. It was quite awhile before I had it installed (decided not to do it myself.) By now I've removed and installed it twice, and replaced several small components inside before the horn would work. I still have to fiddle with the key to get it out. I suggest you rebuild it yourself with all new parts, or get an iron-clad (yes, have an attorney review) warranty from your mechanic: steering, tilt, telescope, turn signals, flasher, horn, and key should work flawlessly.
Jim
And if you do hire it out, get a new 'rag joint' while its out.

There's also a guy on eBay who offers rebuilding services. I have not used him but you can check out his reviews. Search for corvette tilt tele steering columns. And it will come up. Good luck. Let us know how you do. I'm thinking of switching out my standard column to a tilt and tele on my 72 but I would need to take a second mortgage on the house!
Mario
Mine was broken deep in the column. The tilt and tele worked but the wheel column would move up and down. The guy I knew looked at it and said he'd never seen a column broken there before. I'll get a pic and show you the part.
