Hi, repop small parts are showing up and its time to tear down the interior while its still winter. I'd like to order leather covers in the next month or so and maybe you guys can point me towards some quality products or....maybe tell me what brand has been less than satisfactory? Its a big purchase. As with many products, I'm wondering how many manufactuers there really are....maybe most are reselling the same covers under different names? I see leather covers from the mid 500's on ebay to over 800 from Corvette America. Of course I need 72 blue which seems more difficult to find. Suggestions? Need foam too....if there are non OE improvements out there please throw that in too. This car will be driven...not a points car. Improved comfort will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Mid America makes a good product. The annual meet was held there a few years back and we got a first class tour of the facilities. Great company to deal with.
Corvette America is another good one. Willcox Corvette in Indiana has sales on interiors often and I believe the product they sell is Corvette America, but check to be sure.
I'm sure there are other good ones, but these are 2 I know of.

Only comment I can make is to the comfort end. I had my seat redone local in Italian leather. Although very soft, I'm sure my butt wouldn't know the difference in any material if I had not changed the seat cushions. Getting new ones made a huge difference. You might want to look into new covered seats even though it can be much pricier. When I thought about the amount of time and effort that I would have put into recovering the original and then the feeling of the new, I was glad I got new cushions.
Dave C..........My mantra: I can not be bought!! Long and short term leases available.

Oh yes, new foam for sure. I'm finding that tell tale sign of compacted foam breaking down....yellow dust all over the carpet.

Al Knoch is another vendor for interior.
I bought new leather/vinyl covers and foams from Corvette America back around 2002. I did the work myself. (never again-PITA) The seat cushions held up well. I sold the cushions to another vette owner since they were still in great shape in 2012.
In 2012 I had Mid America make me up a custom set of seat cushions Leather/Alcantera (man made suede.) I was please with the workmanship. The Alcantera material cost a bit more, but I wanted something unique.

Bought mine from Corvette America. Cant say how they went together because I farmed that job out. But as for comfort, two thumbs up!

All the above recommendations are good. Mid-America may be the better bet for being able to get a rare color. All are going to be spendy so look for sales. There was an outfit that used to offer free installation during the slow winter months - don't know if they still do that.

Vette(s): 1978 (25th Annv. Edition)Red, Black interior, 4-Speed Transmission, L-82, Power & Air, Very Rare Option Package(Only 145 Red 1978s with a 4 speed trans) & Very Original Car, with original Window Sticker, Bill of Sale and all documentaion.
I purchased my seat covers from Mid-America and foam from Eckler's as well as the wire tool, hog rings and hogs ring pliers.
Why 2 different places? I am bad to comparison shop and it made sense at the time. I would shop around. However I did purchase the seat covers and foam from Al Knoch interiors for my 1999 Vette 5 years ago. Most pleased with those covers as well!
Overall I have been very pleased with my choices as both seats in my 78 have held up extremely well for the last 10 years.
If you have no experience as I didn't in recovering seats, I recommend the Eckler's videos on how to recover the C-3 seats. It is most informative.
Good luck!
