Its always something!  Just re covered the seats and replaced the foam on my 1972.  Now when I re-unite the seat backs and seat bottms the bumpers on each respective piece are not lining up (You can't make this stuff up!)  I am going to try and switch the back and bottoms ( e.g. drivers seat back on passenger seat bottom and vice -versa) to see if there is a better alignment with that pairing.  I did replace one seat bottom frame becuase my original was cracked, but I thought the seat frames were all the same for 68-75 or so.  Anyone have any ideas on this one???

I hafta think the tops/bottoms got switched side/side. That's really the only explanation possible, other than perhaps getting the hinges swapped. Ermm

I'll let you know.  I did buy new hinges, maybe thats the issue?  They sure looked like exact reproductions!

Are both cushion/stops off-set the same amount(on each seat)? As in, if the one on the outside is off by an inch, is the one to the inside off by an inch in the same direction also? That would have to be a problem with the hinges, imo, IF swapping seat backs from side/side doesn't correct the problem.
On the hinges/hockeysticks, there IS an outer and inner part, but they are the same from side to side....not specific for the left or right seats. They could certainly be a little off, even new. As we all know, no two of these dang cars are the same in practically ANY measurement....

Any way you could get some pics of how bad the off-set is?

Thanks, I'll try swapping seat backs and if that doesnt work I'll post some pictures, they are not just misaligned side to side but front to back as well, very puzzling!

I couldn't get mine to match correctly either when I reuphostered. I know the seat bottom is bent, but haven't taken the time to remove the upholstery and deal with it. Short term solution.... Swap the entire seat and back units, then let your passenger sit on the bad one.

My Drivers side was cracked at the back and I purchased the repair bar and installed. I do set up a little straighter now, not enough for anyone else to notice. I switched out by backs and bottoms due to wear on door side foam. (flattened out on outside), so not flattened out on inside. We will see how that wears. Bumpers lined up just fine, in my case.
