You should also carefully check the metal frames for damage...it's not uncommon for the welds to break from age. They can either be welded back up or you can buy repair plates from the restoration houses for not much money to build up the framing. While you have the seats apart is the time to thoroughly go over them.

George, did you have a change of heart? I liked your corbeau racing seats (as featured in Corvette Enthusiast).
Why did you decide to go back to the original? I was deciding weather to redo the originals or buy new racing seats, and after I saw your artical I kinda decided to go with the racing seats. Should I rethink the idea?

Silver69,
Thanks never thought about them and I have used there instructions many times before. A real good example of why this forum works so well. Thanks again.

Hi Glen,
Actually I'm redoing the stock seats so that it is easyer to get in and out of the car. I have been driving it back and forth to work everyday that it isn't raining or snowing "see weather map for midwest". But anyway while I'm driving the seats are great but getting in or out unless your 21 it can be a chore as the sides of the seats are sort of high and at 5'10" I have a tendency to hit my noggan and at this age it can't take to many more hits I'll really deside once I have the originals in and can make a fair call

So am I. My wife was really angry that an upholstory shop was going to
charge us $800 to redo our seats when we already have the new covers.

Good Luck.. I did mine a while back and other than some sore hands they came out great. Alittle trick I did was when I had the seats completly done I used a curtin steamer to remove the wrinkales, this helped alot. Good luck and if I can help give a holler. George
