Just wondering if anyone has dealt with the sticky black dash speaker grille problem in their '79, as I'm hoping to get the fix right the first time. The complete top of the dash just under the windshield is black, including the 2 speaker grilles, defrost vent, etc. The grilles are especially sticky, and hold all kinds of lint and dust after cleaning, and the black finish comes off to the touch. So, I've removed the grilles and stripped them down to the basic black plastic by using mineral spirits and fine steel wool. In this process I can see that they seem to be sprayed with the same dye or finish that is on the rest of the black dash top, as the color and texture is all the same. (Oh, by the way, this is a one owner (me) 15K miles 79 C3 that has always been garaged and covered, and is completely original and stock, so this dash is not faded or has not deterioriated from the sun - I suspect this is age related deterioriation). I'm hoping that someone can suggest a correct and convenient spray product that I can use that will match the rest of the black dash in color and texture. I can experiment with semi-flat, or semi-gloss, and others, but I'm guessing someone else has already been down this road. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !! Thx, Ken
