Vette(s): 1976 Brown with Buckskin Interior. I bought her on 9/15/03 and just received it on OCT 1st 2003!! It needs interior work, and some things under the hood, but I am so excited! Just waiting for Summer of 2004 to totally show it off.
|headscratch| OK OK I know that those are for older C3's but I havea 1976 and I am pondering |haha| about changing my rear window to a removable one. DOES ANYONE OR HAS ANYONE DONE THE CONVERSION????? |devil| Can you tell me pro's and con's!

Thanks!!!!! |thumb| |wavey|

Hey Suzanne,

I was thinking about the same thing too!

Don't know if it's been done before though.

SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am

I'm pretty sure there are some threads in the C3 Body forum on doing that conversion.

I know several people who have converted '73 coupes to that window feature. Probably the hardest piece to fit is the window tray, originally used rivets to hold the hinges in place in the rear compartment area.

Hello all,

I am working on putting a kit together for just this purpose. I know for sure that this will work on 73-75, and I will do a test on a 76 and 77. Look for it to come out in March, 2004.

Watch here for details.http://www.vettespecialties.com and look on the New Stuff! page.

It is easy to do, once you get the parts. There are several posts over at CorvetteForum.com on this. Before starting the project make certain the mounting surfaces are in the body for the two top window locks. If you want I can email you a picture of the back window area.
You don't need the storage tray to use the removable window. The window will fit and stay over the rear wheel wells.
It is well worth the effort. Without the window in the air blows through the interior rather than swirling around and blowing everything out of the car. It is also much quieter.
