Topic: replacing interior on 82CE
in Forum: C3 Interior
I am ready to replace the interior on my 82CE. I ordered my parts from Wilcox, carpet, door panels, seats. They appearently were drop shipped from Corvette America and ACC at a much better price. Now I need alittle bit of help and advise.
1) What insulation/heat barrier/sound deadner combination is the best? There was water damage, (leaky heater core), so the original is no good. The new carpet comes with the jute backing and I also ordered the heat barrier for the front. I plan on using the "Reflex" from Home Depot for the rear compartment. Will this be enough to keep the heat out and for a quiet ride?
2) What brand glue/adhesive has worked best for everyone? And, spray or brush on?
3) The drivers door does not latch when shut, it just bounces back open. Has anyone else had this problem?
Also, I want to say thanks for the C3VR. There is so much great info and the comeraderie and willingness to help is absolutely fantastic!
thanks mike

Mike,
1. All heat/ sound are good. It depends on your decision. I got my original ones from Corvette America . I never tried Home Depot. Sounds good though.
2. I used 3M Heavy Duty Adhesive.
3. Sounds like your locking mechanisum is making your door from closing.

[/QUOTE]Open the door, and look at the latch. The "fingers" will be open. If you take a wooden/plastic stick, and push the edge of the "fingers" toward the outside of the car, it should latch with a good click. Do this on the other door also, so you can see how it is supposed to work. If the "fingers" move freely, without catching, the latch is broken, or the piece that locks the "fingers" is stuck. Either way, it sounds like it will need to come off to repair.
