Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.

Saomething might be wedged in the hinge, or it may be broken. I don't think there is one, but it might have an inertia switch on it. The switch might be stuck. I'll go out and look at mine. |smile|

I'd have to bet that the inertia switch is broken... stuck in the locked position. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about them to know if it can be fixed, or if it will have to be replaced.

Eric,

I found out that there is an inertia locking mechanism in the seat, which restrains the seat. You will have to remove the hinge portion of the seat back, and get it freed up, or purchase new ones.

Sorry I took so long. I just found it in my specification manual... |smile| |cheers| |cheers| |thumb| |thumb|

You should be able to take it all apart and reset the metal swing inerta switch back in its place, it is not that difficult, a simple design, try it a few times before you place the assembly back in the car. You can also flip it back in place with a small screwdriver before you place the covers on.
