On my 80 the seat back keeps locking or sticking. What is the fix for this?
Thanks DB

I wish I could tell you, my 81 does the same thing, sometimes intermittent, sometimes for awhile.

Mine did that to.As a matter of fact my drivers side is doing it again. What is happening is the seat is made to do that in case of a panic stop.I'm trying to remember how to fix it.You need to take off the plastic trim for the seat hinge.inbord side if I remember right. If you look into the workings you will see a piece of the hinge that locks, move the seat forward and back to try and figure out what piece it is.You take a screwdriver and move that part back. It's suspposed to stay out of the way,and it will for awhile. All it takes is pushing the seat back a little to hard and that little lock thing will do it again.I wish I could remember exactly how I did it.Come to think of it it also might be on the outside(close to door)hinge. On mine one was locked one way and the other was the other way. When I get it fixed again I'm going to try and see if I can disable it compleatly.

Mike is right...this same issue has been discussed before, and it always seems to be the swing weight sticking. A good lube-job should resolve it!

Or do like I have to do once in awhile...give the seat a couple swift whacks with the back of your fist.

In all seriousness, I have to spray mine up sometime with a little lube. It does get frustrating trying to fold the seat down and you don't have time to be play around with a stubborn seat.

I had the same problem last year on the driver's side.

Took the hinge apart, cleaned the parts, lightly lubed and put it back together.
Not a difficult job if you have a short screwdriver.
Take a look at my cardomain pictures, page 5.
