Seems I have to replace/repair my seatbelts (my '81 was rejected it's 6 monthly Warrant of Fitness today
due to the drivers side seatbelt being damaged - caught in door latch at some stage in its past) and I am fast learning that this is one of those less than simple tasks !
I have caught up with a previous C3 post on this, and rewebbing by the US company SnakeOyl seems to be the best of a very limited number of options, but was wondering if anyone had any more recent experiences / ideas / pointers...
... and yes I am trying to locate a seat belt repair/restoration option a bit close to home rather then send offshore, but so far no joy

We use Snake-Oyl. They use your original hardware, and do a very nice job. The aftermarket replacements work fine, but are not exactly correct.
I also used Snake Oyl. The work was first rate and if you want authentic, there may be no better choice.
Mine took a great deal of time (more than 3 months for one belt and harness) and I was bugging them lots. It may be that the retractor caused the delay (my lower one was rusted solid). I suggest you talk with them directly to get a firm quote and delivery (I found them not too helpful on the phone).
Be warned - they ain't cheap (probably not cheap anywhere).
