I just purcashed a 69' Coupe but noticed after I brought it home that it had no seat belts! I called the previous owner and he told me that it didn't have any when he bought the car 10 years ago. Strange?
Anyway, I need to find a nice clean set of used lap belts (Black), both ends and for both seats. Any idea where I can find a nice original set without having to pay $300 or more for them??
Also, can I use the later model retractors for my 69? Since it's a driver, I would prefer the added convenience vs the 'loose' belts.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks- Elm.

Been there with my 69 and I will share my experience. My original 69 belts were in rough shape, but mostly there. In the process of doing a body off I accidentially tossed the lap belts along with belts from other non-vette cars. To get it past inspection I bought a set of universal lap belts for about $45.The 69 model year came with lap belts only and shoulder restraints were an option. Knowing what I know now, I would have checked salvage yards for interior matching black belts from a firebird. Do a search and you will find a post by redwingvette that explains what he did. Using belts from a later model car will give you shoulder and lap belts that will work. The good part is they won't set you back the scary price you mentioned. I am in the process of moving out of state and will not get a chance to finish mine for awhile. Good luck and let us know how you made out.
I bought mine from Ebay for $0.99 plus $7.00 for shipping. I got lucky; I was the only bidder for them, Maybe it was because they didn't have the receivers. Any way, I picked up som receivers from a local salvage yard for $20 and am very happy with them.
