Is there any adjustment that I can do to align the stops at the bottom of the seat back with the ones on the cusion?? The seat hinge does not allow the stops on the seat back to go back enough to set on the stops located in the cusion. I have purchased the reinforcement pieces and installed them but still the alignment of these stops is way off. Any advice would be Appreciated

1978 Silver Annaversary car

My seats in my 78 had the same problem when I bought it 3 years ago.

When I recovered my seats I found that there were several brakes in the lower seat frame that caused part of the misalignment. The upper stop screws were misaligned too.

Before recovering them I welded the lower frames and used the same seat frame support (I think you used) to reinforce them so they would not brake again. The upper frames took some work too. The frames can get bent over time where the support screws screw in. In this case I bent that area so both supports would more closely match the bottom supports. One of the screw holes had to be moved and rewelded to hit the bottom support fully.

You may be able to get by with only uncovering he upper seat back so that you can bend the seat back frame where the screws go in. I found a large cresent wrench useful to accomplish this. I would test fit it several times with seat bottoms before recovering the seat back.

Either way the upper screws will have to be repositioned to make them meet the lower screws, the bottom screws are set per the frame support you used.

I did not find it hard to do, but a little time consuming to get them right. I hope this helps you get them in the right place.

I don't think our Vettes were built to last 28 years, so every now and them they need a little TLC.
