I pulled out the drivers seat today with the intention of installing that repair plate for the back of the bottom seat. Well, it needs more than that. One of the main springs is broken along with a couple of the small coil springs on the front. I've looked through the catalogs and online and can't find anyone that sells just the springs. Are they availabe by themselves? I can repair the rest, straightening the frame, cushions, seat covers, etc. I just need the springs. Anyone had this problem? I don't even see the bottom frame with springs. Are they available anywhere? longhorn294 2010-12-25 14:42:34

I just had my seats redone and the upholstery guy that did it had to repair or replace some of mine and if I remember correctly he said they are universal and he had them in his shop. You may want to ask an upholstery shop if they can help you out. I dont remember seeing them anywhere as well.
Good Luck

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
Zip carries the springs but they probably are universal.

Thanks Rodney, Jim. I'll check that out Monday. Maybe they are universal and I can get them locally. It's hard to imagine anything on a Vette being 'univer$al.

Thats the good thing about the 79s! No springs! Just foam and plastic! Hope you get it all worked out!

I called an upholstery place in Shreveport and the guy said he had 'zig zag' type spring in a bulk roll. Seems to me if it's the same size spring, cutting it to length should work, eh?
Zip does have the springs I see. They're $5.50 each. Think I'll see if the upholstery guy has the same thing. Probably would be cheaper too. As for the little coil springs on the front.... don't know yet, maybe he has something like that too.longhorn294 2010-12-27 12:13:14
