i am searching for a set of c4 seats for my 75. i like the seats in my 90 with the bolsters as it adds some support to your back. also they fit better against my lower back. good luck with your project and hope to see it when you are done.

Update - I got the seats apart and sanded the shells. Big difference - click here for a pic. Now I need to order the seat foam and covers (going the already assembled route) as well as a few bolts and the hinge covers (they are pretty beat-up, I'm sorry to say). So when all that stuff gets in, I'll work on getting the fiberglass nice and clean and then painted (or should I say dyed?) Time for me to reread some of the old threads about cleaning/prepping interior pieces Wink.

Btw, the hardesp part so far was getting those darn tiny staples out that were around the edge of the carpet - nasty little buggers!

I bought a pair of the same "clam shell" style seats for my '72. The originals are in good shape but I thought that the later ones would work better on my lower back seeing that they have that lumbar support. I herniated a disc in my lower back several years ago and I'm bettin' these seats will help. Also, when the original seat-backs are folded forward the hinges press the seat belt buckle against the console, of which I replaced because it was cracked at those locations. Being that the "clam shells" hinge is higher, this problem is also eliminated. I got my seats from the swap meet at Carlisle. If you can't find "it" there, it doesn't exist(I can't wait 'til next year!). Anyway, I also bought new seat cushions and covers assembled while I was there. Seems to be the best way to go. I've yet to install them as I'm trying to finish up the suspension upgrade. Would like to hear how your seats went in, it looks like they should with very little trouble, if any.

PS. That's a great photo of your ride with the museum in the background.

just wondering how your seats are coming along? guess this must be the time of the year for seat replacement. as i said previously i was looking for c4 seats for my 75 and bought them this morning off of ebay.

they were black which is what i needed and they were just recovered. they were from an 86. paid 550.00 for cushions and frames. would have cost almost the much for me to get just new cushions if i bought a cruddy pair.

can't wait until they get here. let us know how your upgrade is progressing.

I haven't done anything else. I need to get off my rear and get the parts ordered. I'll do that this weekend.

That's a great deal for those '86 seats. I might have gone that route if these seats didn't come along. The C4 seats are very comfortable and look great.

Just woke up, couldn't go back to sleep and thought I'd check out what was going on with the site since I hadn't been on in a while.  Read your post about the seat upgrade.  They look just like a pair I purchased a couple of years ago.  Haven't done anything with them, bought them for $200 and in pretty good shape, but they are a maroon color, my interior is black.  Would like to see how they look on your car when you're done.  Did you use a light sand paper to sand the shells?  Where are you buying the parts from?

I still haven't ordered the stuff yet - I'll do that real soon now. I sanded the shells with 120 sand paper - did a good job to knock all the loos/flaking paint off. They are ready for paint. I think I'm going to order the covers and cushions assembled from Al Knoch - maybe door panels too, but that will be later.

I finally got the seat cushions/covers ordered. I ordered assembled units from Al Knoch - black 100% leather. I should have them in a couple weeks.
