I was trying to find an older thread on this issue. I have a 1975 coupe that I need to replace the seatblets in. I currently have retractable belts but they are too small. I can't believe they are the originals. Anyone have any suggestions on replacement seat belts new or used that don't cost $300 a piece.

I replaced mine with Camaro/Firebird seatbelts. They work great and gave me more room for my large friends. See my web page for more info

What I did for my '78 was follow the advice of a local upholstery shop. You don't need to replace your seatbelt at all. Get a spare male/female seatbelt clasp set from the same year (not every year interchanges). The upholstery shop can run seat belt webbing and attach the two ends as an extension. Not expensive and it works great. Far simpler than replacing the entire seat belt and retractor set.
I have a 72 with the driver and passenger side retractables in horrible shape after sitting under the covers for years, don't have the female side at all so thought it might be cheaper to get aftermarkets. The shoulder belts are ok but are the original saddle color and some previous owner changed the interior to black. Have heard it is not advisable to dye these as it weakens them. Any comments and if you don't mind me asking, how much coin did you have to drop for snake oyl. see that corvette central is selling their laps for around 350. Too much, don't ya think??

Howdy,
I'm traveling the same road with my '70. I found replacement belts at Corvette Central for $44.00 plus the cost of mounting hardware. They had them to me in two days (shipped priority mail).
