Ok, I have heard rumours(from my parents) that in 1974 cars had to have some sort of interlock where you couldn't start the car without buckling the seatbelt. Their 74 Maveric had one anyway. They're not big car people, so they have no idea when else it was. I've found miscelaneous wires under my handbrake thing(vinyl around the brake lever). Are these to the seatbelt interlock(if it was ever there)? Couldn't find mention of it in my AIM.

I forgot the crux of my question. Can affix a switch to these wires and have it setup as a kill switch of sorts so I can be less paranoid about this beast dissapearing?

The seat belt/ignition interlock was a 1974-only feature. I had several relatives who purchased 1974 cars and designated me as the family interlock-defeat expert. Usually, all I had to do was unplug the underseat harness.

These systems were not dead reliable when new (no-start even with seat belt buckled). I'm sure age has not made this situation any better. In any event, your '75 was not equipped with this system.

well, then things get even more interesting and complicated! ZIp Corvette sells an interior wiring harness "E-446 1975 Dash harness, Automatic, w/seat belt interlock, w/fuse box" and "E-629 1975 Dash harness, Automatic, w/o seat belt interlock, w/fuse box". My understanding was also that it was a one year option. The other clue I've got for it being present on my car is the collection of wires running underneath my clearly manual adjusting seat! I remember my build date being mid-January, could it be that this "feature" was carried over from 1974 still? Just huntin' for clues!

That IS strange. I recall my parents owning a 1975 Chevrolet that definitely did not have this feature. It did, however, have a feature that activated a "fasten seat belt" light for a few seconds after the ignition switch was placed in the "on" position. I recall that buckling up before activating the ignition switch would eliminate the light activation. That may explain the existence of the wires you are referencing.

You may want to review this link which discusses a certain underhood relay found on interlock-equipped cars to see if your '75 is so equipped: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/vettfixr/page16.htm
