Vette(s): 1981, Black/Black, Engine bumped to about 400HP.Ext/int mostly stock.
I few years ago, I had a Porsche 911 that had problems with the driver seat leather. Replacement seat covers for that car were unbelievable (as in $5K!), so I thought I would take the cheaper way out and spend $500 for the very best sheepskin available. Looked great at first and were extremely comfortable in winter AND summer. However, there were two problems:
1) It made the car look must less sporty.
2) Within 1 - 2 years as a daily driver, they looked bad. Between a soda spill and a big wear mark where my right arm rubbed that side of the seat back, they were ready for replacement.
With the relative low cost of Vette seat covers, I would HIGHLY recommend that over sheepskin.

I had fake sheepskin on my old Escort (okay enough of that) for several years. They were about 30. for the set. I was happy with them, and there was nothing wrong with my seats. But the covers were comfortabe. I would not spend the cash on real ones. Only drawback is the dirt would go through the covers, and the seat did need cleaned once in a while.

The original owner of my vette put sheepskin covers on to protect the seats. What he found out after taking them off a few years later, was they actually ruined the seats. I don't know all the details if it was the stitching or finish. He thought it may have been related to the Florida heat?? Anyway, he did not recommend putting them back on for any length of time without ocasionally checking under them and moisturizing the seats. I still have them up on my shelf.
