Topic: Small rip in drivers seat
in Forum: C3 Interior

My leather driver's seat has developed a small tear, right where my wallet sits in the seat. (No, it's not too fat. Actually, rather thin lately.)
Is there anything on the market that will prevent the rip from getting worse and still look halfway decent. My seats are gray. but I think duct tape is too tacky. Really.
I figured when I get to Carlisle in a few weeks I can stop at the Al Knoch booth to see what they can offer. Besides a new seat.

Check with the service manager from your local luxury car dealer (Lexus, M.B., Audi etc.) and find out the name of the company that they use for such repairs.
These dealerships often use outside companies to repair leather, alloy wheels, small dents and such.
God luck,

The patch of fabric under the material is always a good way to make the repair. Even if the tear is in a flat material area. Us a fairly heavy piece of material and tuck it through the hole, and use a bonding agent to glue it to the bottom of your seat material. There are aftermarket kits out there if you want to try it your self. These will allow you to put the bonding patch in place, and finish the surface as well. The material bonds with heat, so you will need a stout hair drier to set the bonding agent.
But as also stated, if you locate a company that does this, they can match the cloth/vinyl/leather grain/pattern. They then mix up an interior dye, and can make the repair completely disappear. Check with a used car lot, or your local dealer association to locate a company that does this.
