I am refurbishing my '81 door mechanicals. When dissembling everything, each door has a little metal, triangular shaped piece of metal on the top of the door at the very rear. It looks like it long ago probably like rubber on the end of it that I can only guess fit up against the inside of the back edge of the window, to act as a bumper or weatherstrip. The rubber is long gone, so I don't know for sure. One more clue: it is held in place with one small sheet metal screw. To avoid confusion, I am NOT talking about the two "anti-rattle" cushions in each door.
Anyway, can anyone tell me what these are officially called, where I can get them, or maybe even a picture of one, installed or not? Every parts dealer I have talked to doesn't know what I am talking about. Also, it's not in the AIM nor is it on Chevy's parts diagrams.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I figure if all I can get is a description if function and appearance, or maybe a picture, I am going to try and make replacement. Yeah, I'm pretty adventurous - probably to the point of being foolishly wasteful of my time!

that would be the top of the door weather striping. I just replaced mine. it is held in place there with a small scew. the rest is glued around the door. advice...buy the black weatherstrip adheive by 3-M.

Thanks Charlie.
Just to ensure I understand, are you saying that the screw and metal bracket are actually at the end of a much longer piece of weatherstripping (not a small piece as I had guessed) that is also glued unto the door? If so, exactly where does this longer piece of weatherstripping go? Under and around the door? If so, I am not sure how that works, as the part I am talking about is actually covered up by the door panel, when it is installed...
Thanks!

I think the best way to check this is open both of your doors. There should be a rubber weather strip that goes down the latch side of the door and all the way around the door. this seals the door to the body to keep water and noise out. Be sure to check both doors maybe your missing only one. This rubber is attached on the top of the latch side with a small screw and this end is trianglar. You can look up this part on any corvette dealers website.
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more problems.
ps. try Midamerica's site they have a good picture.
