did some research on the Low-E insulation, sounds pretty good for a
cheap alternative. I've ordered a roll, will post the outcome after it's in.
Web site for info:
www.lobucrod.com
from e-bay feedback:
"I've used this product just recently on my 49 Studebaker street rod. The
product was everything it was advertised to be and more. Never have I
worked with such a forgiving product. Not at this price, half of the other
dealers. The temp in my Stude was around +110 once the truck warmed
up. After installing this mat temp dropped to 85 yes and I'm not done
installing it all yet. Need I say more? However, I will recommend buying a
good glue to hold it in place."

Swallace,
You gave a big clue to your heat source when you said it was coming from the tunnel. Someone very briefly eluded above to the lower shift boot. I have heard that is almost always the problem in C3s when heat is coming from the tunnel. Under your leather shift boot is a rubber one. When these rot, you get lots of engine heat.
