I am with you on the odo reset. DO NOT TOUCH!! I learned that on my original speedo. I think when I reset it was when it all went south for the stocker. It never worked correctly again. I had it rebuilt and paid all the good money for that. It stopped working after 6k miles so I decided to try and fix ti myself. It appears to be working correctly again.
I think I am going to order some parts and put them in there this week so it will be like new again. Two gears and a number drum should set me up for a long time again.

I really know nothing about speedometers but just tore into this one out of frustration. I figured I could not hurt it anymore than it was already.
Luke, does your speedometer move at all when you drive the car? Say if you are driving about 20MPH does the needle move up the scale an appropriate amount?

I have the opposite problem. My speedo stopped working about 2 weeks ago. It was making a slight clicking sound and that went away when the speedo stopped working. My odometer still works though so I am pretty sure the cable is okay. Anyone have any ideas? Do I remove it and take it to a speedo shop or is there something easy that I can do? BTW it's an 81' Thanks, Tom

Sounds like the gear to the needle is short on teeth now that the clicking stopped.

Had mine rebuilt by Harrison Speedometer in Fl. Awesome job, repainted the face. Very reasonable and a really nice guy to boot!!

Call John Dvorski at Red Line Gauge and Clock Repair in Humbolt, TN. 731-571-0766 or email him at redlinec@bellsouth.net. Unfortunately he is in the other end of Tennessee from you but if you could coordinate with him and take it to him, he will fix it while you wait. He is that good and his prices are way better than Roger. John may tell you how to fix the problem over the phone.
