The speedo in my 76 is bad. I need a step by step explaination how to replace it. I tried to pull the dash and unhook it but never achieved clearance to get to the back of unit. If someone will walk me through the process, I would sure appreciate your advice.

I don't own a 76, but it won't be an easy chore. First off are you sure its the speedo and not just the speedometer cable? A cable won't require pulling the dash appart. I would disconnect the cable from the trans and pull on the interanal drive. if its broken it will start to slide out. Then all you need to know is the cable needs to be replaced and it will save you the trouble of pulling the dash appart.

If you have to pull the dash then it will require removing the center console, dropping the steering column and finally pulling the dash cluster. If I'm correct.

And if you have to do all that, you might a s well make life easier for yourself and remove the driver's seat.
But check that cable first.
