Hey guys,

I was thinking aobut it today, and I got a few dolalrs to spend, I'm getting like another $800 in and more in the future (hopfully soon). SO I decided to treat courtney to her interior needs now, since all of her driveline componets have been purchased, except Tires, and wheels. So I ordered the ABS platic seat backs (my orig ones have holes in em) I got her new console shift side panels, and a fuse kit. But I am a bit conserned about a few other things I bought. I bought her new 4X6" (for the DASH) Rockford Fosgate speakers. I also got her for the 'Trunk' a 10" ROckford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 sub, and a   KENWOOD KDC-MP425 deck. I figured if I am taking apart the dash now to put the new booster in, and the new speedo cable, why not bang it all out in one shot? My question is, I ahve to wire for the amplifier (coming soon) and the sub. I wnated to build  a custom sub box taht looks a bit like this:

Does anyone have their doubts of my drawing above fitting int eh Vette? Mabey someone can help modify it a bit? I know its really narrow back there.

Look at this monstrocity! I wonder if this will fit in the Vette, HA-HA!!1:

Vette(s): 1980 L-48 still in the middle of a frame-off.

Remove engine, mount the sub in its place, add batteries and you will have an air powered vette, 1st in the world.

If you actually use this your windows WILL blow out. New hearing aids run around 800.00 a piece. Buy those before this.

Corvettes and women are the same...You want to make love to them but they keep breaking down.

Vette(s): Coupe 74 - 454 Drive it like you stole it!
Seems a little excessive.

I added 4 speakers and a new deck on mine after riding it for about 1 year with no radio at all.  Since I have it in (spent about 450$ total for pretty decent sound without an amp), I find myself turning it off all the time so I can hear the engine.

Just something to think about.

If you go for it, make sure it easily slide in/out if you ever have the need to store your tops or access the battery.

On the other side, if the windows don't blow, you will at least find all the loose connections (they will fall apart) and all the rattles.

Loose Connections?
I'm not really using the JackHammer, that was  just a joke. However I did buy the following:

Deck: KENWOOD KDC-MP425

Sirius HD Radio ready, AM/FM, CD, CDR/CDRW, MP3, WMA Compatible. 50W per channel - 4 total
$85 this includes shiping.

Speakers (FRONT - IN DASH): ROCKFORD FOSGATE P1462C 4x6" 2 WAY

30W - 60W MAX PAIR 4x6"
$58.95 this includes shipping

SUB: Rockford Fosgate P110S4 Punch Stage 1

10" 150W - 300W MAX
$55 this includes shipping.

I did not buy the 6x9 speakers because I wnated every one's opionion. I think that allthough the car is small, and the dash speakers are probably fine, I know this whoofer, and your going to need another set of definatly larger than 4x6" to match the soudn of the whoofer. So mounting 6x9's one on each side of the box is the best choice. I didn't buy an AMP yet, as the one I want its like $200+, I am going to have to wait until the exhasut is done at least, before I get the AMP. I bought all this wholesale so lets add up the wholesale, and retail costs, and then figure out what I saved:

Total Wholesale (what I paid) with shipping included is:
$198.95USD
Total Retail       (did not pay) with tax (7.75%) is:       &n bsp;
$294.09USD
Differance:
$95.15USD
To me, thats a big differance. $100 is a lot for me, considering I don;t have a job anymore. And this retail price came from the lowest store, and did not include the manditory instilation for me to get my warranty.

Vette(s): ...
I have speakers in the rear of my vette put in by the previous owner, they are 6 x9's and have  box built for each so they could be taken out if needed and didn't change the interior. not sure what they are but they sound nice.

Ahh yes, the mighty jackhammer! - saw this beast installed on one of those pimp my p.o.s. episodes on mtv. took up the entire back seat and trunk of a late 80's gm 4-door. this is what i would call a slight over kill. i know youre joking about this, but the scary thing is that there are people out there who arent!

Interesting thread! And all I was worried about is whether or not my original mono unit will even work!

Vette(s): 79 L82 auto other then the indego blue paint, headers with chambered exhust and rims its all unrestored original with 68000 mi
This is vary simular to what I have. If you do it right you should be able to fit your tops in back. Go for it mine sounds really great and vary loud which is needed to hear over the chambered exhust.
