I got my dye from AutoZone. Going to black it's an easy change.

To go from a dark color to a ligher color you definately have to use the gray primer they supply. It does a nice job. If you don't use the primer it will not turn out very well.

Ken is right, the auto paint shops have the good stuff. I used Sikens on mine, it has a lot of flex agent, uses a hardener and was a perfect match. I like it much better than the spray bomb variety. I've never died carpet though, I doubt this stuff would work on it.

Actually, it works on carpet quite well. You would be suprised and pleased. I am dying my used carpet I got from beige to black. Working very well.
I had a couple of old gray rear floormats that I dyed black and used them in my Mitsubishi, they came out great.. needed two coats though so they gray wouldn't show through.

OK, then, has anybody had any luck cleaning carpet stains caused by a bad heater core? When we were breaking in the engine, I never even checked for a leak there, got a rust streak on the carpet and it already fried by the time I noticed it.

This may sound weird, but for rust in the carpet.....WD40. It's a synth product so it can be cleaned after the rust is gone. It works on most fabrics, but can spread the stain. So try it in a small hidden spot first. I have cleaned many stains from carpet with WD40, oil, grease, etc. Don't use it on knits, it just spreads the crud around.
