I don't know if this will help, look on your trim tag for the code.  An example is like my Pace Car had Silver Cloth so the code was 15C, Silver Leather was code 152

INTERIOR CODES: Blk/C=19C; Blk/L=192; LB/C=59C; LB/L=592; DB/C=29C; DB/L=292; M/C=76C; M/L=762; R/C=72C; R/L=722; O/C=12C; O/L=122; Silver/C/Pace=15C; Silver/L/Pace=152

ABBREVIATIONS: Blk=Black; LB=Light Beige; DB=Dark Blue; M=Mahogany; R=Red; O=Oyster; L=Leather; C=Cloth

First is the trim tag located inside the driver side door. The one I have is B LOA L08L25

           741 80L 80U 584 E

I think the color of my inter is dark red. But looking at color codes in Eckler it close to cinnabar. Or am I color blind.

Wow, lot more numbers than my 78/79s. Different nos. to specify which assembly plant. The 80L and 80U are your paint code. Autumn Red. Bowling Green color. 741 is your int color. Except I don't see that listed. There is a 74C and a 742, Dark red cloth and dark red leather. I remember a similar post a few months ago over on CF about the same thing. I believe the cinnabar color was a St. Louis int. color. Will look around over there this afternoon to see if I can find the info if noone finds it before that.   Mike

Did some pokin' around. Cinnabar would be code 67C or 672. Often referred to in books as just dark red.    Mike

80/98....Autumn Red/Dark Claret. Is there a 98 anywhere on the trim tag?   Mike

80L=Red lower
80U=red upper
74I=? I show 67C or 672 also as "cinnabar" for '81, but...in '82 the codes were:
74C=dark red Cloth
742=dark red Leather
????
Also have info that "Leather trim codes may end in the letter "I", rather than the digit "2", for '81 & '82."
Sounds like either the trim tag has been changed, or the paint & int. have been changed.
The only two tone red in '81 was code 80/98, which is red and dark claret. Your trim tag shows to be a solid red paint, and those code #s (colors) were not available in '82. Hmmmmmmm Watson, we have a mystery!

The trim tag should break down as such:
B LOA L08L25

            741 80L 80U 584 E

B='81
LOA= don't know! Should be two digits representing the month(01=Jan...12=Dec), and a letter representing the week of the month(A=1st wk...B=2nd wk..etc.) Are you sure the "L" is not a "1"? Check and verify the nums & letters. I'm curious now! Adams' Apple38554.8468055556

I'm thinkin' your L's are really 1's also. So that would be ....B(81),  LOA(10A-Oct., first week),  L08L25(108125-first 1 is Bowling Green, 8125 is your sequence no., last digits of VIN).  Also, found a post over on CAC from a guy with the same color two tone. His paint code was also 80/80. Says the 584(his was different, tho)was the accent color, with the "E" designating two tone.  Mike mkapp787938554.8971990741

Hey I have problems reading California school system.

 I check again and you are right. Its B10A 108125

                                                      741 80L 80u 98m

SO I think the colors are what they should be. Atumun Red for the top half and dark claret for the bottom. With dark red leather for inter. My car is a 81

Ya got it now. For some reason, the second color on two tones is listed as "m"(for middle). Both my 78 Pace Car and 78SA build sheets have the same colors listed as upper and lower with the second color listed as middle. For instance, Pace Car is black/black with silver middle. My trim tags  list upper and middle, no lower. Go figure. Yours sound 100% legit.   Mike
