The upper dash pad on my 70 Cpe has some cracks in the speaker area. I have heard about reskinning the dash pad but would like to know if anyone has had any experience doing this. A new dasah pad is expensive and hardly seems worth it for a few cracks.

Any other options out there?

We bought a dash pad cap on Ebay but after much unhappiness trying to get it to fit right my wife decided that we should go with a replacement piece. |sad|

I used a dash skin on mine. It turned out very nice but was pretty difficult to install. You can look at a pic of the interior from the link below.

I think if I had it to do over, I would replace the dash pad completely just because it is such a hassle to work on and I would only want to do it once.

If you just have some cracks, try some two part epoxy. You can get clear and it may be a good enough.

You may want to redye after applying the epoxy.

I have some minor cracks in my pad and I am going to use JB Weld since it has worked well on my lower dash pieces.

If you do opt for a replacement pad, Willcox has the best price going and it is a Corvette America piece or you can try William's Corvette in Sumter, S. Car..
I find that William's does not rush you and he has always given me the straight skinny on whether it is a good repro or not plus he has fair prices not list prices like some of the big outfits. Williams also has some used parts for any other needs.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I know that the new dash is expensive, but everyone that I talked to has told me that the pads don't fit right or don't look right. I thought about it along time and decided to buy the new dash. I got a very good deal from Wilcox, and they were very helpful. Now that I did it I'm glad I bought the new one instead of the pad.

So I guess I would say to either try to temporarorly fix the cracks, or buy a new dash. You will be happier.
