Topic: Vette Driving for the Vertically Challenged
in Forum: C3 Interior
I've been driving my "new" Vette for awhile now and have an issue that I don't know how to resolve. I'm "vertically challenged"... 5' 1 1/2" to be exact. In the driver's seat of the Vette, I feel like a little kid trying to peer over the wheel. I confiscated my husbands two firmest pillows (one for under the butt and one for behind the back), and was sittin just right! Obviously, this is not a permanent solution (although I did get away with it for a few nights!) Besides, it looks kinda tacky! Have any of you or your spouses had similar issues? What did you do??? New seats, adult "booster" seats? Something else?
The best solution might be a custom made seat cover, just for you.
You could have the crossed flags embroidered on the seat back.

All kiddin aside, there are adjustments you can make to the seat backs to allow them to sit more upright. Also, a tilt/telescopic steering column, if you don't have one, would help.
You can raise the seat tracks off of the floor a little bit safely, maybe an inch, max. That would require some spacers to be made for that purpose. This might make it hard for anyone else to drive it but you...(wink-wink, nudge-nudge)

One thing I found out and may well be the case with your car, is after all these years, the foam padding in the seat has compressed and deteriorated. Having new foam installed makes a lot of difference and restores the seat to its original height. Now I make sure I drive the car with the tops off as my head is above the roof level and I have to crouch to drive it with the tops on.
