Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
After all the rain at Funfest, the rear compartment of my 74 Convertible is still wet.

1 - where do you suppose the rain came in from (while I know the top isn't 100% sealed tight, the wet area is well behind where it would be if it was from the top)?

2- how do I correct the issue from #1?

3 - best ideas on how to dry it out?  Currently, I've got the back hatch open with the top held open as well.  I try to keep the garage door open as I can, but I'm not home to put it outside in the sun during the day

4 - what kind of damage (besides mildew) do you think could be happening as it sits there wet?

5 - once I get the issue solved, should I buy some new carpet for the back section?  I'm thinking of doing survivor next year.  Would that hurt my chances?

Thanks!!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Vette(s): 1977 Coupe; yellow, 4 speed, one option car with original engine
fans lots of fans... no if the car isinside in the day place a small fan blowing on the wet area; (at least it works on Cadillac's), if you can lift the carpet that should help with the mildew issue

Vette(s): 71 Colonnade Hardtop Coupe Torch Red with black interior originally L48 built to push around 360hp
I'm not sure about Verts, but my 71 Coupe has hoses that run down from the rear grids, through the rear compartment, and come out behind the rear wheel well. When I did my interior I noticed they were rotten & replaced them with flex radiator hose. Also right after I did my interior I got caught in a down pour with my T's not with me. Like bounder says, fans are needed. I had an inch of water on my new carpet. I did lift the carpet and kept the fan on for a day or two. As far as I know no mildew.
