Hey everyone,
Here's the lowdown... 74 vette, convertible... black top. Restoring it, going to be painted black soon. We're replacing the entire interior, but I haven't decided what color to pick yet! I'd love to hear suggestions, prices, and most importantly, pictures!
Thanks a lot

Check out the current C3OTW - black w/oyster interior. Looks pretty darn sharp. A light saddle or pewter/silver grey would look pretty sharp as well. A couple of interior colors I personally don't think look good with a black exterior are bright blue or bright red (don't mean to offend anyone). Sky's the limit though - good luck choosing.
I'm partial to black so that gets my vote. I do however think it is nice to have a contrasting color with the exterior such as the suggested oyster or gray. But like I said, all black is my favorite. I just think it looks really sharp. You can't go wrong though, it will look good with whatever color you use.

It took me a couple of seconds to figure out what C3OTW stood for
That oyster color definitely made it into the running now. I think the colors on the possible list are :
oyster, gray, tan, or maybe a two-toner with black and another color.
The reason I'm not going with just black is that this car will be driven in Florida, it's a convertible, and so I need SOME degree of heat protection. Which brings up another question..
Leather or vinyl with these conditions? I love making decisions like this this!

Vette(s): 1979 Black coupe. 11256 original, documented, miles on it when I bought it in April of 2000. It now has 13100 on it. Oyster interior, like new. Everything original, everything works, except the clock. Paint has a couple of minor flaws.
Imran,
As far as the color of the interior is concerned, I have several comments. First my color, oyster. I think it is very sharp, but it shows every little spot of dirt. No matter how careful you are, it gets dirty. It is also cooler on hot days than other colors. I have seen some black cars with red. I think they are ok.. They also wouldn't show the dirt as bad. But, I think the best choice would be black. It doesn't show the dirt, and looks great. The only bad thing is, That damn thing would be HOTTTTT in the summer, with the top down. If you park it anywhere, it would have to be under a tree, or you couldn't get back in it to go home. most all colors have good and bad things about them. The main person who needs to worry about it is the guy paying for it.. YOU.. Get what you want, cause you are paying for it...

Glen,
Great looking car! Congrats on getting it featured on the website...
I was actually thinking about asking you how hard it is to keep that color clean. It looks wonderful! I'd pick black as well, but like I said, this car will be in FL, and we have some crazy sunshine. I really would like a light color that's easier on the heat, but also not too prone to getting dirty easily. Unless I see some more pics to convince me otherwise, I think the order right now is : Tan, Oyster, Gray... I'm hoping I'll see some vettes locally or at a big show that'll have some of these combos...
Thanks a lot

Classic White with a black top and interior is my choice (voting for my car). Seriously, it isn't as dull as oyster or tan, and doesn't show the dirt either. Joe

My car is red with a black interior. It gets hot. Let me say that again, it gets hot. I drove it yesterday with the hard top still on it. I was parked for about an hour. It got hot !! I really don't think the color will make a bit of difference. If you want the interior to stay cool, while it is parked, flip the top up and use a sun screen. My Jimmys are both black with a grey cloth interior. The only part of the car that stays cool is the cloth seats. Now there is a thought, if you are into modifying your Vette, put in some nice modern power cloth seats or hmmm how about seat covers? I know this sounds like a smart alec answer and I am sorry. The point is, it will most likely be hotter than you will like no matter what color you choose. I know there will be about 70 responses telling me I am nutts but hey, ya stick out your neck and ya take how ever many swings the axe man feels like dolling out
