Vette(s): 1978 pace car replica
I want to replace the center cluster bezel in our '78 pace car as one of the winter projects. The original bezel had been cut up to handle a CD player radio set. I want to go back with an original 8'track like what was in the car from the factory. Mainly for looks, but would be nice if it worked.
Anyone out there just happen to have one laying around?? I would like to hear from you with specifics and pricing.
Take care

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.
I have one from my 82CE. Took it out and most likely will never put it back in but have no real good reason to sell it either. I see there is one for sale on ebay. looks like it is going to command a really good price for the seller. Mine worked 4 years ago but have no idea if it does now. You know that you will have to add an amp if you use new speakers. The older ones were different resistance.
Before I sold, it I would want to see what the ebay went for. Now if someone has the nose emblem and horn emblems for a 82CE that are in good shape I would make a trade hands down. Mine have chips in them and will eventually purchase replacements.
If willing to pay $150 + shipping, I would be willing to part with my 8-track play. This past Fall I replaced the factory installed 8-track from my '78 SA, with a I-Pod compatible cd player. The 8-track is sitting in my garage, along with the four 8-track tapes my dad gave me with the car. FYI - it was working fine when I removed it.

That is a good price I would not let mine go for that.

Done deal - thanks to all for reading/listening. Original '78 radio soon to be enroute from left coast to Indiana.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
I'll look forward to seeing that installed this spring Gary! Good luck!
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Did Gary write, "Left Coast". I'm thinking he meant 'Vette Coast. After all, our 'Vette's out here are loving these 60 degree Winter days sans ice or snow ~ as are their drivers... :-)

Ok, it could be "left coast" or "vette coast" or just plain California, but no other inference intended. The weather there and in the South sounds to be much more supportive of hitting the road with the Vette. Here in Indiana today we may reach 50 with some rain. May be able to squeeze in an exercise run in the pace car, but we'll see later. I try to get it out monthly for a 10-15 mile run.
Doug, most bits now in hand for the retro conversion to your old radio. I do not know what to expect with respect to how the original wiring was chopped up. I have the wiring pigtails for the radio in hand from Ecklers. Colors not EXACTLY the same as those on your original connectors, but suspect we'll get it figured out.
Also wanting to get the A/C figured out. When I had a friend doing some work on the speedo and tach last year, he indicated that something possibly was amiss wiith the A/C ducting behind the dash. Discussion/investigation did not go any further at that time. Now it's time for the great dig into what's really behind the upper bezel. The '78 service manual has some pretty good artwork on ducting layout. I think I need one of those mini cameras that I could do some exploring. In the olden days as I investigated engine failures, we'd use a bore scope to look at the possible carnage inside the cylinder.
Take care

Good luck with the install, Gary. Wiring was definately a challenge when I upgraded the 8-track. Had my 'Vette out every day this week :-)
