Hi friends - getting ready to do a repaint and now would be the perfect time to add that lift window I always wanted to - looking for the complete setup glass, hinges, weatherstripping, hydraulics - but if you have any of the parts and a line on how I can get the remaining I sure would like to move on this - thanks - ken

Vette(s): 1982 C3 Collectors Edition 44000 miles, sat in the sun most of its life, My wife purchased it for me for Father's Day in 2007 from her girlfriend that had it for 19 years. It is on the road again. I'm retired but it is now my daily driver.

Be careful about the window hardware. The original stuff
did not always hold up. There is some of it on the web that is actually worn
out and sold to people that do not know the difference. For example I'm
replacing the hinges and struts on my CE the originals all look and operate
close to perfect. But in fact the hinges
slip and my window is jammed up against the locks. The struts are close but the pressure in
slightly unbalanced that will cause you trouble.
I could sell you these and make some money but that would
not be ethical. You would put them on
and they would work for 3-12 months before you noticed things were not quite
correct.
I recommend you contact this guy. He makes hinges and struts (sometime). He will also be able to tell you which one of
the after market guys can provide you with a good (i.e. not perfect product).

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I seem to recall hearing that the setup for the first and only year of the "Hatchback" for the C3 was prone to problems incuding those listed by Gilbert above
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

There are some aftermarket hinges being offered on ebay that are machined from billet aluminum and much more substantial than the original ones. Didnt see any last night when I was browsing the 82 corvette section but they have been listed periodically. Sure wish mine had the lift glass.

Thank you so very much - here I have been dealing with ebay for 5 years and have NEVER seen anything about a lift window - you gave me the hints to do a search and "Bam" there are hinges, latches, weatherstipping etc. Everything but the glass - you rock! THANKS!

If you have been doing research, I am sure you already know that you will need to modify the "roll bar" to accept the hinges, and fabricate something on the window opening to accept the latches.
There are a couple of guys who carry the glass and the repro hinges. Just google the glass, and you should find the rest.
