Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
1. Did the stock/base 350 engine in 1972 come with a heat riser?
2. Why are both sides exaust manifolds the same? Are they both considered RIGHT HAND? What is the difference in the LEFT hand ones? Mine does not have a heat riser and manifold is right hand, and does not have the flat surface for the gasket to face up to. The donut recess is in the one I have. I also have OEM air conditioning. THANKS Mark

Mark;
All C3 Corvettes had a heat riser on the right side. In 71-80, the two manifolds were identical. The bottom surface accepts either the gasket for the heat riser, or the donut for the pipe on the left. The pipes are different lengths to make up for the thickness of the heat riser on the right.

THANKS, Larry. I guess seeing my heat riser is MIA, that is the reason the pipe going through the cross member is banging on it when I shift or hit a bump. I am putting one back in and wondered if the manifold was correct. Hope to eliminat the clunking. Mark
I lost my heat riser and used that as an excuse to put in a new dual exhaust. Went with the MAM chambered exhaust kit and it sounds fantastic.
